17 registrations in 12 minutes ...
I was at my desk when all of a sudden our GIS Data Portal (http://gis.lacounty.gov/dataportal) began sending me messages about registrations – ended up being 17 registrations in less than 12 minutes. I’ve seen articles on line about spam bots crashing sites with fake email addresses, so I got really worried, picked a registrant at random, and send an email to see if this was a real person …
Turns out a GIS class at UCLA had just been introduced to the Data Portal, which is great! That’s what it’s there for! Of course I told the student to mention GIS Day (http://gis.lacounty.gov/gisday)
