  On a related note, I am aware that Florence County, South Carolina has a pay bonus for GISP certification as well as for AICP. Presently, LA County has a bonus for AICP but not for GISP or other GIS certifications. Florence County GIS also has a requirement for their GIS staff to get certified within a certain time frame as I understand. However, I feel that it should be optional at LA County but provide an incentive such as a pay bonus similar to AICP certification for urban/regional planners.
