GIS Day Survey

I just sent out an email to all of the participants that we could identify, but if you did not receive that email we would appreciate your feedback!

The GIS Day Committee would like to thank you for attending the 5th annual GIS Day event, titled “GIS – The Power of Location”.  We hope that you found it an informative and fun day for GIS, and got some good swag!  In an effort to improve our event, we would ask that you fill out a quick survey to let us know what we did well, and what we could improve.  The survey will take around 3-4 minutes to complete, and has about 10 questions.

To fill out the survey, click on this link: http://egis3.lacounty.gov/eGIS/gisday/gis-day-survey/

Thank you, and we hope to see you again next year.

November 14th Proclaimed “GIS Day”

This morning, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors proclaimed next Wednesday, November 14th as “GIS Day.”

This is the second time they have done so, and a number of the GIS Day committee staff were on hand to see the presentation, and receive the beautiful scroll that was prepared for the event.  The scroll is a beautiful tradition that LA County has for celebrating important events (like GIS Day).  I will upload some pictures as soon as I get them.

Click here to see the scroll: GIS Day 2012 Proclamation by the Board of Supervisors

The text on the scroll reads:

Storm Drain Workshop announced during GIS Day

The Survey/Mapping & Property Management Division of Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (DPW) is very pleased to invite you to the Storm Drain/Catch Basin Workshop which will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 concurrently with GIS Day 2012 at DPW headquarters in Alhambra.

By maintaining properly functioning storm drain and catch basin facilities, we will be able to remove pollutants, control stormwater runoff, prevent flooding, and protect public health. The goal of this Workshop is to facilitate the operation and maintenance of catch basins by leveraging the GIS technology, data sharing, and networking among public sector professionals.

This workshop will be in the Alhambra room, which is part of the GIS Day event.
