Tax Rate Area Table (2014) – Auditor Controller

This dataset contains TRAs for July 1, 2014.

The Tax Rate Area (TRA) contains the taxing authority for each Tax Rate Area as established by the State Board of Equalization, as well as the tax rates for each authority.  It is shown on the property tax bill that is mailed to owners of property in the County.

Used in combination with the Assessor Tax Area Polygons, this can be used to determine the property tax rate for a specific area.  This dataset used used to support the Tax Rate Area Lookup site.

To map the boundaries of Tax Rate Areas, this table can be joined to the Assessor Tax Rate Area Polygons or to the Assessor Parcel File.  Note, however, that these joins are a one to many (e.g. one parcel will have one TRA, which will have multiple entries in this table).

The Auditor-Controller groups taxable properties into Tax Rate Areas (TRAs). The TRAs are numbered and appear on both secured and unsecured tax bills. The Board of Supervisors sets the tax rates that are calculated in accordance with Article 13(a) of the Constitution of the State of California.
