Census Tract & City Split Areas (AKA Split Tracts) File

Census Tract & City Split Areas (AKA Split Tracts) File, to be used for demographic estimates.

This file contains 2010 Census Tracts Split by Legal City Boundaries. This file is also known as the Split Tracts file. It is used to estimate population changes over time. The Census Tract boundaries have been altered where necessary to align with Legal City Boundaries, fixing errors in the Census Bureau’s Tract boundaries where they did not align with city boundaries.

IMPORTANT! It has been updated to the 2012 Census Geography Update, which merged Tracts 1370.00 and 9304.01 into the combined tract 1370.00. So the CT10 field actually reflects the 2012 Census update, which is used for all population products 2012 and later.  EGIS_CT10FIP10 will reflect such CT10 change.  Also, Legal City boundary lines will be updated each year if any City or Community Annexation activity to be approved.  Therefore, EGIS_CT10FIP15 will reflect any update of the Legal City boundary lines in 2015. (i.e.: FIP15)
