Import LAR-IAC2 Aerial Imagery SDE Export Files

As a follow-up to the earler post about loading LAR-IAC (from first project) aerial imagery, I wanted to follow up with information about how we expect to deploy LAR-IAC data for LAR-IAC2.

Our contractors will deliver an SDE export format file that should make deployment much faster, since you will only need to import the file.

You will receive one or more files in an export series. Below, the file is called lariac2_pilot

From the command line, run:

sdeimport -o create -l LARIAC1F_NF,image -f lariac2_pilot –s GISMAPDB1 -D AERIAL -u EMERGE-p EMERGE -i 5152


Here are the parameters

  • -l LARIAC1F_NF,image this is the final raster dataset in SDE
  • -f lariac1f_nf – the import file on the provided drives
  • -s GISMAPDB1 – the SDE server name (or IP address)
  • -D AERIAL – The SQL Server Database name – this parameter may be a bit different if you use other database
  • -u EMERGE – the username that “owns” the data – this user must exist
  • -p EMERGE the password
  • -i 5152 the SDE service port (can be a name like esri_sde) – we use a separate service for our aerial data

You will probably need to run the create statistics command when you have finished loading, which will look like this:

sderaster -o stats -l LARIAC1F_NF,image –s GISMAPDB1 -D AERIAL -u EMERGE -p EMERGE -i 5152 -v 1
