  • This is the exact same issue we have in Los Angeles County (and LA City is facing it too). The LA Times got into it somewhat recently with their Mapping LA Neighborhoods project (http://projects.latimes.com/mapping-la/neighborhoods/). They do need to note where the news stories are occuring, so good to know if it is in Reseda or Lake Balboa or Van Nuys, for example.
    It is a Google mashup and you can comment and ask them to make changes.
    Of course, we used to use Thomas Guides – but then Thomas Bros called me once in a while to get the County’s opinion. I told them there was no such place as ‘Post Office’ off of Topanga Canyon Rd. Funny how this keeps happening – but with Google and the other mapping programs like Open Street Map and Bing Maps…we can usually find what we are looking for, regardless of the name shown.
