Regional GIS Forum Meeting – September 26th, 2013

Hello everyone,

Javier Aguilar from SCAG will be hosting our next Regional GIS Forum.  I look forward to learning more about SCAG’s free training programs and the GIS work that they do.

Bike Paths

One of the areas that we have decided to begin work on is a collaborative method for maintaining bike path information – taking up what ESRI provided, I will be showing a shared updating application that will enable us to visualize the various data sources for bike paths across the County, moving toward a single integrated dataset.

We are looking for the staff at the various city bike path management to join us, to learn more about the capabilities and to provide feedback on the idea.

After the Regional GIS Forum, GeoSpatialLA, a networking group for Los Angeles Area GIS Professionals, will be meeting in the area for a social event.  You can find information about the group on LinkedIn and join there.

What is the Regional GIS Forum?

The Los Angeles Regional GIS will serve as a forum for local and regional government agencies to collaborate and share information, ideas, strategies, best practices, and solutions and form partnerships with educational institutions, and State and Federal agencies regarding the implementation and management of GIS in Los Angeles County.

If you are part of a government agency at any level, educational institution, or other group supporting the public mission, you are encouraged to attend to make connections and help move our region’s GIS forward.
