GIS Student Opportunity

Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking a candidate to fill a Student Professional Worker I vacancy to assist with GIS duties. Students must currently be on the L.A. County’s Student Professional Worker I eligibility list.

Example of duties:

• Make routine edits and update GIS spatial data, including points, lines, and polygons
• Create standard and custom maps and map series, database feature classes, shapefiles, tables and reports
• Create graphics and infographics, and perform data searches.
• Develop and update web maps, map services, and mapping applications.
• Georeference digital maps to align with real ground locations.
• Generate buffers, service areas, spatial joins, and table joins.
• Convert data from one coordinate system to another.
• Use digital elevation model (DEM) to perform terrain analysis, including slope, elevation profiles, and drainage.
• Conduct GPS data collection in the field.
• Operate large format plotter and scanner.
