Mobile GIS Viewer

Notice: The mobile GIS Viewer has been suspended until further notice.

We are excited to announce the launch of the LA County Mobile GIS Viewer (demo version) at http://egis3.lacounty.gov/m/?viewer=demo.

Upgrade – April 26, 2014

Upgrade – October 9th 2013

The mobile viewer incorporates HTML5-based web and mobile mapping technology and functions on smartphones, tablets, and desktop web browsers without plug-ins! The LA County Enterprise GIS team is providing this site as a template for County departments to test and build mobile ready sites.

Features of the Mobile GIS Viewer include:

  • Find an address via the search bar
  • Find a parcel via the search bar (AIN; without dashes)
  • Find Parcel information through the “Identify by point” feature
  • NEW! Pinpoint your present location (geolocate)
  • NEW! Data editing – we have loaded some test datasets (fruit tree sits, insect trap sites, vacant parcels)
  • NEW! Report an error

The site will automatically detect the type of device you are using (desktop, tablet, or handheld) and configure itself for the best viewing experience.

The mobile GIS Viewer is a light version of the County’s Silverlight GIS Viewer (http://gis.lacounty.gov/gisviewer), however, the mobile version is quite powerful and has new features that are not available via the Silverlight version. You have access to Political Boundaries, Administrative Boundaries, 2010 Census Tracts, and parcel boundaries, along with the County’s base maps.

Training videos on how to use the Mobile GIS Viewer as well as utilizing the new features will be available in the future.

Please contact eGIS@isd.lacounty.gov if you have any questions.
